car wants to start but wont

new plugs good wires timming might be off just a little... i think it is either getting to much air or not enough fuel..... i have most of the egr and the air pump holes caped off so really i think it is a fuel issue im ussing a carter fuel pump that i bought a napa and i dinki plastic filter but what i am wondering is i am not getting maybe enough backpressure or something because the fsm on my se calls for a high pressure side rather large fuel pump would that be the problem

Pull your plugs and see if they are wet. then report back

already did they had a wet greasy looking carbon after cranking for a while (they are new by the way) it will start with starter fluid (probablly bad idea there) other than that with just gas every ones inwhile during crank generaly right off it trys to start..... al that is why i think it is a fuel issue

if its running off of the starter fluid and once it burns that off the car dies its a fuel issue.

The starter fluid might have washed some oil film out of the housings. Try putting oil in the spark plug holes.

Not a whole lot. If your using a funnel I would say about 1/4 of a quart total for both rotors.

Whenever my engine flooded the only "quick" way I found to deflood it (this is a 13B) was to just crank it over a few times, let it rest, crank it over a few times, pump the gas pedal a few times, rest, crank and fuel, and after awhile it sputters to life.

Probably not THE best way to deflood it (I believe the Rotary tech guy told me that removing the plugs would work) but I've only had to do it like two or three times before.

he is correct also but its not 100% enough to start a severely flooded engine. You have to pull the plugs and crank away with fuel pump disconnected.

I'll keep that in mind next time it happens. However, one thing he did suggest to me is to put in a fuel cut-off switch so that I can just flick the switch, turn the fuel pump off, and let the engine burn out the rest of the fuel. To ensure I don't flood.

Just a simple rocker switch hooked inline with the power wire leading to the fuel pump.

do it on the negative side so you dont have to worry about shorting issues.
