AHmmm.... my car doesn't roll in gear like that. And it's pretty hard to spin by hand. Good compression I guess.

Also, I don't think the bucking you're talking about is a trait of the rotary specifically. I think it's more the Nikki carburator.

My Nikki used to 'buck' somewhat under decelleration. But my Dellorto never does; it is *smooooooth* while decelerating, even at very low rpm's.

Mine does this pulsing, or bucking, when cruising @ low RPMs like through a parking lot with speedbumps, etc. It's as though the engine is power on/power off/power on/power off... but subtly, mainly in the enigine note with very slight bucking.

As both of my ReXes did this I thought it normal. Is this similar to what you folks are describing?

My '82 bucked or "rubber-banded" with the nikki and the emissions on. With all the emissions removed, it is
very smooth, even with the nikki. Manntis, I've had two
SE's one bucked like yours, I could never get it out, one
was smooth as glass. The only difference I know of is the "bucker" had been abused more than the other.
