widest wheels in 16 inch.

I have a GSL-SE that is making too much power for the rear tires to put down, I spin them in the first 3 gears and get a good chirp in 4th. (I don't want to say why)

What I want to know is, I have 4 new Nitto drag radials and I want to put a pair on the rear. They were for my FD but decided not to do that to the car just yet. I want to use them and they are 16". What are the wider wheel sizes that have been used on a FB without rubbing (in the 16" size)

Thanks.

in front I wouldn't exceed 205 or there will be much rubbing and a marked decrease in joy. In back you can go slightly wider.

Yes, its a stroker 350 (383) from the pre emissions era.

I would like to use the tires I have but the widest rim I can find is 7.5 in. Discount tire direct says it is a fit but I wanted to know if I can mount a 225-50 on that rim. it is .5 in narrower than the FD wheel...

7.5 inch rim is smaller then the 8 inch FD wheel, but depending on the tire, It still might be able to mount on the 7.5 wide rim. Check the specs for the tire and see if it'll fit on that rim width.
