you hear anything clicking? My car did this to me for a while...But, I kept blowing my 20 fuse(engine). So the car would start and go good for about a minute, then idle rough and died. Went through my fuses and grounds. Ends up one of my fusable links was just loose. But, I heard that when the pump goes, it just goes.....

I think I had a similar problem where I had to rewire the fuel pump up to the dash. Installed a toggle switch to cut off the fuel pump.

You might have gotten a dirty tank of gas. You can pull the lines off the carb and examine them for buildup.
