car just sputtered and died? HELP!

My mom was driving my car down the highway, guages were all good, with a little under a 1/4 tank of gas and it sputtered out and stalled. She said she started it again and made it about 200ft. I know there are a lot of possibilities, when I get more info I will ask. i am going to try gas line antifreeze in case of some water in the gas, otherwise it was running great lately. :***:

Hi Hotty,
It could depent on where in the Great White North you live but I know that out west here is has been freeking cold, I think that you should change the fuel filter (not hard). The next time you fill up put in some gas line antifreeze. I usually do it about every second fill.

Is your Fuel Gauge accurate? Did it just run out of Gas?

BTW, I’m for the fuel filter ideal also!

k , I'll check the fuel filter and also the plugs + wiring. i put gas line antifreeze in, premium gas, didnt help. Free revving will not go over 4000rpm, in any gear not over 3000 rpm. Put it to the floor and it bogs. Also, where is the best place to get plugs for a 84 gsl-se 13b??? Thanks.

now that sounds like a clogged cat, but, you can put your hand bhind the tailpipe and check for good out put of exhaust,,,also could be a torn accelerator diaphram in the carb,,about 20 bucks to get a rebuild kit,,,,hope this helps....good luck.
