The seller is asking too much. I bought an 85GSL with 49k for $1700.

The 7 doesn't have to be a moneypit unless it has been utterly neglected or abused. Sadly, that is the fate of most cars in the USA, unlike , say, England. But the FB is easier and cheaper to maintain than any car I've owned. But definetely, the most reliable of my 3 FBs is still the 83GS that I bought new in 82 and which only I have driven.

I'm definitely still on the search for a reliable first gen rx7. Again any suggestions as to where to search would be really appreciated. Seems where I live most people overprice every damn car. Bunch of cheap bastards. Saw in the paper, think it was an 87 taurus, 2,000 dollars. Sat in there for three months.

Keep looking, especially in the for sale section of the forum, you may have to drive to get it, but that in my opinion is the best place to buy a 1st gen. At least your smart enough to look first, I snapped up the 1st fb 7 I saw for a grand and wound up with rust problems and a semi blown engine. If your car is in good or bad shape either way you'll become very mechanically inclined in a very short time, 1st gens have a very strange effect on poeple.
