Can someone answer this?????

I'm in the process of restoring my 85GSL-SE and the other day I pulled off all the rubber moldings. I noticed that the driver side rear was different than the passenger side rear or any other for that matter because it had what looks like a little extension over the marker light frame. (SEE PICS) Dare I say that this was engineered in as an ingenious way to keep fuel off the lens since it sits directly under the fuel door?

Sweet. Thanks Sgt. Fox. I love things like that. Shows attention to detail.

Found that out myself when I took my molding off for painting. Nice idea, but I really doubt it's efficiancy.

I can see why they did it, though; SA's are famous for losing the section of molding under the gas filler.
