Can I remove it?!?!?!??!?

Well, as any true rx-7 lover knows, these cars should be sold with a pry bar so you can pry what you don't want off. But in this case I not sure if I can without messing some thing else up. What I am wondering is, there is a black canister attached to the passenger side finder well that has two vaccume hoses coming out of it--can I remove it? It is about the size of a can of corn (a little bigger). The hoses go to the fire wall and connect to the ridgid metal hoses that cross the fire wall. Maybe go to break booster--maybe not. I'm not sure. Any help would be appreciated. And for all the guys that say "search", tell me at least what it is called and I'd be glad to. The car is an 85 gs. Thanks again

It's the evaporative fuel canister. I've never really thought about whether it's something removable. I don't know why you'd want to remove it, though.

If you remove it, its gunna be smelling like gas near your car. Basically it captures the fumes. I removed it....the next day it was back in.

If you can go without emissions stuff, remove the acv, airpump, and rats nest. Also, remove cruise control, hot start assist, and cold start assist. If you've removed all of the a/c stuff, remove the idle compensator thingy (for when the A/C was turned on) there by the cable linkages on the carb. Looks like a little black vacuum cylinder.

if you remove all that stuff, you better remove the cats. especially when you remove the air pump. without the air pump, the cats will melt down and clog up and you will be hating life. ever price out new cats for a 7? it will make you want to **** blood. i would just go with a RB exhaust and be done with it after you remove your emissions.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention the thing about the cats, thanks! Also remember to plug up the cold start connection on the carb otherwise you'll have a vacuum leak. Follow Pratch's how-to on removing the rats nest.
