Question Can i pass emissions with racing beat exhaust?

I am about to buy a full exhaust system for my 81 rx when i realized that they do not have a cat in them. Should i just save my old system and when emiisions check time comes around bolt it back on? Or will it pass without the cat. Please help!

There is not a chance in hell you are going to pass emissions with a full RB exhaust. You need to put your stock exhaust on when it comes time to pass emissions, or learn how to be really good at bribeing people.

Ah but thats not a full racing beat exhaust now is it? Actually that was the setup I was thinking about doing, but I found a way to get by emissions.

racing beat muffler, miller performance cat (the mazdatrix gray market one), and Rb muffler passes with flying colors. I seriously doubt having no cat makes that big of a difference.

What are you talking about? It makes all the difference if you want to pass. The cat is the main thing that reduces your hydrocarbons! High hydrocarbons means no passing emissions. If cats didnt make all that big of a difference, they wouldnt be there in the first place.

just save your stock exhaust as long as it still passes emissions for you. the racing beat doesnt have a chance in hell a passing.

I meant performance, I know what a cat is and how it works. I just went through hell with inspection myself, nice new cat and boom emissions go way down.

Hmmmm. Cats make that much difference? I'm going thru hell getting my red 83GS thru smog, 120k miles, but I have the cat from my 85GSL sitting at home (I put a Bonerz on the 85 for performance). Maybe I should put that cat on the 83, it only has 50k on it, and try again.

You have to have a cat and a working airpump to pass emissions. The airpump does alot more than most people realize.
