Can AC compressors be rebuilt?
Just wondering if anyone knows a company that can rebuild AC compressors. Mine's bad, having trouble finding a replacement. It HAS to be a nippondenso, the other one (I think there were two types for an SE) won't bolt up, and hoses won't fit.
So, I'm thinking it might be more practical to get this one fixed if possible.

Hey MWPAYNE, you can get the compressor from radiator.com for $117, I saw it listed when I got my radiator from them last weekend (it also cost $117). The radiator was excellent, all the connections where right and it had two rows instead of 1, as in the original piece. Now the car runs cool.

So a gsl compressor will not work on an se? I have the one from my 85 gsl if anyone needs it. I bought the car with a bad coolant seal and haven't even tried using the a/c so I cannot prove it works. Car has 147,000 miles. Is there a way to test them? I'll let it go for $20 plus shipping
Hi MW, I just looked and it's there, I was wrong about the price though, it's $114, not $117 (also be sure to use www.radiator.com, not www.radiators.com, which I put in my first message). Type Mazda in the box that asks for car type, enter all the additional information and it will take you to a page that has the price for the radiator and the AC compressor. Hope this helps!

The Nippondenso unit is the factory installed AC. The other one is the dealer installed. All 12A powered cars came to the US with no options. Things like AC were then added, here, by the dealers. SE's came with AC standard, and they came from japan with it already installed.
I have one of each, and yes they are completely different.
