alright I couldn't find and companies that make a CAI for the FB so I was thinking I might just run some tubing and run it from the stock intake down somewhere infront or my radiator. Has anyone ever done this? and if so does it work?....I'm not sure it the car would waste to much power pulling the air through all the piping to even yeald any gain at all.
Make sure the tubing is tapered, starting small and getting bigger. As air is drawn through a tube it tends to heat up from friction. A constant-radius pipe will end up compressing the heated air laterally, increasing the friction and causing even more heating. A slow, steady expansion allows the molecules to separate from each other to prevent further friction & heating. This is why the stock GSL-SE intake running from airbox to the dynamic effect chamber is shaped the way it is.
furthermore, if you decide to draw the air from in front of the rad, that's fine - but it doesn't have to be drawn from down low to be CAI. You'll have bends in your pipes, meaning any illusions of 'ram air' are just that... but you risk drawing in water, dust, etc. to clog your filter with. However, if you draw from between the rad and header panel, you're drawing in cool, clean air that is protected from puddles and road grit
