What worked for me; run it down to 1/8 tank of gas, then dump in a full can of SeaFoam (into the gas tank). Don't add more gas at this point, just take it out and drive it like you stole it. Should clean out any carbon buildup and free up your seals. Welcome to the forum...

Nevermind found it at the autopart store. Going to give it to her today so hopefully my car is well tune. Next is an oil change. YAY! I feel like I have a new car already.

Sea foam is safe for anything, roatry or not. I have used it on fuel injected and carburetted with great results. I swear by it as much as I swear by MMO (Marvel Mystery Oil).

My first engine blew a couple days after using that stuff. I don't care what anybody says, it was more than a coincidence.

You're better off using Chevron Techron, BG44K or Gumout Regane than Seafoam in the gas tank.

I put it in my motor and 2 days later it took me 30 minutes to get the car started. Sounded like I had a stuck apex seal because there wasnt the normal "poof poof" sound while cranking... but after i got it crunk it's been runnin fine ever since..

If you want to keep it from leaving a residue, now I cant do this (sidedraft carb) pour a tiny amount down your carb WHILE IDLEING!!! I cannot press this enough your car must be running. You will hear your idle bog down so you want to hold the throttle open between 2-3K if your car is not running you wont be able to start it until the C-foam evaporates. do this until you've used a 1/4 of a can. trust me this doesnt leave a residue and it cleans much much more effectively than if used in the gas tank. pouring too much can also kill the engine.

By this you mean "stalling the engine" not blowing the engine, am I right?

And also doesn't water do the EXACT same thing, just as long as you make sure the car is running and doesn't stall. I remember a thread where someone sucked up some fluid of some sort through a vacuum line in the intake manifold and just sucked the whole bottle of fluid in, apparently it worked pretty good. I just wish I could remember what it was...

I know everybody has an opinion but those saying No to Seafoam, please explain why. Is there any science or reason to your response or just an opinion.

It's water. Steam cleans the internals, so to speak. Tried it but I'm not sure if it did a whole lot, probably not enough water.

About the C-foam, would spraying it onto the apex seals through the exhaust ports be a good idea? Putting an RB header on soon so the exhaust manifold's coming off anyways. Or perhaps a combination of that plus some in the gas tank AND into a vacuum line.

if you pour it in your gas tank or pour it in your carb it still goes in the engine and burns right? so why would having it running and pouring it though the carb wont leave a residue? to my understanding if it gets burned inside during the combustion wont it leave a residue inside the housings?
