A/C clutch wont come on...

replaced the old a/c because it had worn bearings and its clutch wouldnt come on either, can run a hot wire to the clutch wire to make it come on, but is there a relay or fuse that may be bad, also the device that raises the rpms when the a/c comes on doesnt work either, they both worked before but now they dont,,,thanks,,,

Those are symptoms of low freon in the system. Another symptom is the AC clutch engaging and disengaging right away. Check that before you look for other gremlins.

Check the relay for the clutch, then check the a/c solenoid on the motor. Also check if the two trigger independently or are dependent on eachother. Then check the saftey switches to see if they are not working properly.

Can you change the A/C compressor without discharging the system? My Ford Explorer has same problem except the clutch won't engage even when you try a bypass on it. Compressor are pretty much the same on the inside, thats why I asked a Ford boinger question on here. I need the truck to tow my 7 too. There, now its a REX question
