what spring rates should i go with? (front and rear)
i mainly use the car for drifting, autox, and a daily driver.
any recommendations?
autox is 2 weeks from now and i want them to be installed before aug. 3rd.

 

I have 350lb for the front, i don't daily but i think it is 'tolerable' for street driving (I might have a different opinion if I do actually daily it).

 

I have Eibach 700/250/400 (7in, 2.5in dia, 400lbs) and 200lb on the rear.
Daily driver, gets abit stiff on any bumps, but hey, I like it.

 

how is it sideways?

 

I'm about to throw on re-speeds 275 on the front and eventually get 150-175 on the rear

Havent actually received them yet due to reasons i do not know about. But im in Canada and go through RPM

 

Smooth and controllable, no roll on the rear. Once I go Panhard/Tri link, it will be poetry in motion....

What shocks do you have in the car? The first gen is limited when it comes to shocks that bolt in without mods. Since the shock must be able to control the spring rate we have to keep that in mind when choosing.

Also, I'd like to know how long your springs are. I am planning on getting some coilovers but can't decide which length i should get for the front and rear.

 

i have tokico blues right now, but i will upgrade to illuminas later..

 

I suggest no more than 250# on the blues. Illuminas can handle up to around 350#. Of course you can run above that if you choose but the shocks will not control the springs like they should and tend to prematurely damage the shocks.

A good starting point on the rears will be half the chosen front rate +25# or +50#

right now i have racing beat springs on the car, but i would like something that can adjust ride height.

I'm also interested in thes subject. Won't the tire profile have an affect on this as well? I'm assuming that for drifting pourposes you are running lower profile tires?
I'm not a drifter but I like well rounded info

 

right now im running 55's
its ok but i am going to start using it for autox as well.
haha went on sunday and had loads of fun, plus it improves my driving skills since i am a pretty slow driver.

 

Another vote for 350lb's. I run them with 17"s and I think it rides pretty nicely

I run 205/50/15 front and 215/50/15 on the rear, keep in mind I cut my rear fenders and slammed my ride low...

 

what shocks do you run?

 

Here's what I'm running, which works great for spirited daily driving and weekend racing:

Front: Illuminas and 275# springs with the race version of Respeed coilovers.
Rear: Bilstein shocks and 150# springs on Respeed adjustable perches.

I might end up going with a slightly stiffer rear spring if I can't find another way to induce a little more oversteer, but for now it is still performing nicely.

Your best bet is to just talk with Billy, let him know what you want the car to do, and then listen to his advice. He hasn't steered me wrong yet.

Another note would be that we do not sell more than 250# on the "street" front coil overs.

Only reason I mention this is since you have a week for ordering, shipping and install I figured you might be thinking non-welded "street" kit rather than "welded" race kit.

Food for thought, the RB springs you currently have are 145# and stock springs are 100#. The 250# to 275# I have recommended is a big jump over stock as well as RB.

Also, up to 6 days for transit is what USPS has quoted.

I have 300/175 on mine. It's really solid, I can't recommend going higher than that on the street.
