Broken piece on intake manifold 79SA
I broke the plastic cap I the piece that screws in to the intake manifold under the carb spacer. It had a spring and steel plunger in it, seems like it's a pcv valve to me but I can't seem to find it. Any ideas as to what I can do with it, or what I can put back in its place? I have a pcv valve on it currently that I installed with the rats nest delete.

I have several that are broken. Good thing they are easy to repair. Just break off the rest of the plastic and remove the guts. Get a short length of coolant hose on the steel nipple. Shove a PCV valve inside it and ziptie or hose clamp it on. Hook the other end of the PCV valve to your carb if retaining the altitude compensator, or hook it to your oil filler "neck" and put a small breather on the other nipple on the intermediate plate. This is a very effective PCV setup for your 12A.

Thank you guys for all your help. With the information you all provided for me, I was able to purchase a new one from mazdaswag. I'm going to install it some time. Just need to get the hose that broke with the old unit haha.

Can I just block this off? Will it affect the way it runs? Still want to be able to pass smog in California. Not worrying about the visual smog test. Smog tech won't know it's missing. But will notice a rigged up pcv valve.

It should be fine to block off. The FB did away with that style of altitude compensator anyway. At the end of the day it's just another controlled vacuum leak on the intake manifold.
