Cool Broken E-Brake cable

Anybody ever fixed one or do you need to replace the whole thing?
I broke it while coming back to the office from a meeting in downtown Seattle(lots of steep streets), stopped behind a truck and pulled it to hold on the hill and it went Bam! Broke 3 inches from the handle, could see the end from inside the car.

I want to just replace it from the "Y" foreward with a new swedge and some aircraft cable.

Let me know if somebody has done this already, any tips would be great.

Thanks!

Get the BlackDragonAuto magazine since they sell each individual e-brake cable.

if it is just plain jane cable, go to a bike shop. I got 8 feet of cable, plus like 6 feet of sheath for 2$. I now use it as my throttle cable.

Since that cable has an end on it that seats it in the e-brake handle and another on on the other end in the wye, just order a new one or find one from a parts car. Bike cables are nice for throttle cables, but I don't think they have the rating needed for brakes.

I replaced both cables before i sold mine and it was a PITA. It makes it quite hard to remove all the little clamps with the exhaust in the way, plus everyone was ******* rusted all the hell. BUT, rockauto shipped me all 3 sections which was CHEAPER than buying just the one side that broke. I kept looking at the prices and descriptions going something has to be wrong till i called over the phone and asked, yea thats right the lady said. So, done deal. I really would recommend replacing all 3 pieces tho, the side that was still intact, was a little stiff and rusty.
