broKen driver side mirror on 80 model. cant find any

Have a broken driver side mirror. Cant find a replacement. These are manual mirrors. I'd like to keep them original BUT I'm open to a good looking replacement set. All the ones I fond on ebay and the sort are front fender mounts. Does anyone have a good place to source used or a link to some nice new set? Thanks

used: (and these can be just fine with maybe a new coat of paint) - the 1st Gen Parts Forum.
Ebay on occasion.
New: not ones that would especially match the original style, if you are picky about such things...

The only ones on ebay are fender mounted as of now. Ugh. Ha

any pictures of how its broken? You could always use JB weld to fix it, just make a trench where the crack is, super glue it and fill it with jb weld then sand it.

I've glued broken mirror bases before and it's always a temporary fix. It becomes a weak point and is prone to re-occur. Even if you do re glue it, I wouldn't stop looking for a replacement. You have to expect that it might take several months of dilligent searching to find some parts. It's an frustrating part of owning an older car.

Are the SA mirrors different than FB's? I thought they were all the same, but when I needed mirrors they were all over ebay and the classifieds.

Okay, edit- just checked epay and there's only one or two, which are electric. But If you are gonna own a rare 40yo car you need to be creative.

If using epay look up 79 - 80 rx7 and ALL KINDS of parts come up. Look at adds for fenders, doors, hoods, etc and it's always a pic of a junkyard car. And that yard will happily sell you whatever you ask for. Ive gotten many odd-ball parts like this.

Add for a hood, but I see it has -SE rims, and I want an -SE brake proportioning valve? "Why yes sir, we'd be happy to sell you that". You just have to ask. I have the (crappy) manual mirrors on my S model and I'm thinking of putting on late 60's mustang mirrors w/ the cable and ****, so I can have a **** on the door card to adjust them. I know that doesn't help you now, but it's just evidence that these things are usually available. Ill have 3 (4?) For sale soon.

SA and FB mirrors are shaped different. To get into the weeds, they are even slightly different btw 79 and 80. Same style, the 79's were a grey color where as the 80 cars were more black. Then you have the 80 LS and 10 A/E cars that used the FB style mirror which were also power adjustable. 3 different kinds on SA cars.
