Brake System Problems...

Ok, I know that is some of my other post I had meantion something about the break system. Ok, well let me just explain what is going on.

When I got the car yesterday the guy told me that one of the main things I should change was the Master Cylinder. Anyways, beside that I meet with other machanic today and he told me that. When he press the break it go all the way down until it touch the floor of the car. Now, I knew this before and you have to pump the break in order to stop. So, he then put the emergercy break on and he told me that when he did that the break will only go half way. Now this seem very weird that it dose that when the e-break is on and not when the e-break is off.

Now, the thing is this... he told me that must likely it cold be a few problems beside the Master Cylinder or it can be something else and not the Master Cylinder. When I drive the car I have to pump the break alot to make sure I hold during a light at a hill or down hill. Is kind of scary sometimes cause I can see my feet going down slowly and the car start moving slowly. It sucks and I am not sure what to do in this situation.

Any idea anyone?

Would I need to replace anything with the e-brake as well?

Sure thing, I will do that and hope that fix my problems. Cause man, at the moment I am not rich. LOL! sucks! . =P

I am wondering, what is the different between;

Brake Master Cylinder
S/GS Model W/ Rear Drum

and

Brake Master Cylinder
GSL/SE Model W/ Rear Disc

What kind of benifits dose the Rear Drums give over the Rear Disc?

Air/ contaminated brake fluid will have the same symtom.
As well as a bent axle.

Are you losing brake fluid ?
If not, I'd bleed and flush the brake lines w/ new fluid. first

Well, I haven't seen it yet but for what I was told that, every 2 weeks or so it needs brake fluid. So, far is my 3rd day with the car. Before I got the car the guy had put more brake fluid into it so when I take it will be full. So far I haven't seen a decrease on the fluid but I haven't drive the car much since is having that brake problem. Also if you notice in the picture that area were the Master Clylinder looks kind of rusted also the Master Cylinder which makes me believe it could be that.

If you're losing fluid , find the leak(s) first.
Pull all 4 wheels off and examine the front calipers for leaks and pull the drums off the rears and examine the slave cylinders for leaks . If you don't see any , it's probably rhe master cylinder.
Replacing the m/c is easy . just make sure to buy a decent quality flare wrench to remove and re-install the brake lines.
