Brake Question?????

I have completed my 5 lug conversion and finally got my brakes working...some what.... I had to take my 7 to a local rotary shop to get them working before sevenstock because i was having trouble bleeding the brakes and getting the pedal to stay stiff. Well the brakes work now, they said they had to adjust the rod the goes from the power brake booster to the master cylinder. Well now the brakes work fine for a couple of miles, then the pedal starts to get really stiff and stays up and is hard to push down. when this happens the brakes are being applied very hard - constantly, then they start to burn up and smell. the brakes will return to normal after i turn the car off and let it sit a day, the brakes will return to normal, and then this will happen all over again. Does anyone know what this might be????

Sounds like (obviously) heat is causing them to expand, one why is there this much heat? two where is it coming from?

Sort of reminds me of hydraulic handbrakes, that hold a car when hot then as it cools the car rolls away, old rally car issue.

Somehow when you apply brake pressure, you are not getting the caliper to return when you let off again, I suspect they overadjusted the rod, try shortening it a fraction.

Does sound like the rod has been adjusted too tight. Wonder if they were trying to overcompensate for a failing or leaking brake booster, a poor bleed job or perhaps a leak somewhere in the system.

Did they do anything with the brake proportioning valve? If they they did to mod that, and did it incorrectly, the rear brakes will not release. Are all 4 brakes binding, or only the rear ones?

i am confused about this here
Well now the brakes work fine for a couple of miles, then the pedal starts to get really stiff and stays up and is hard to push down. when this happens the brakes are being applied very hard - constantly, then they start to burn up and smell.
are you saying YOU or the car itself is applying the brakes, i assume you mean the car itself, but just to clarify.
