So I noticed that my tail lights are working correctly, however the brake lights are not. I followed the troubleshooting instructions given on a different thread on this site. If I jump the wires between the lamp check relay and brake switch the brake lights work. I got a new brake light switch to put on and they still don’t work, still only by jumping the connectors. Any suggestions on what it might be?

 

Sometimes the little rubber stopper will come off the pedal the the switch doesn't engage.

 

I believe the rubber stopper is there, although I’ll have to check when I work on the car again.

 

Also, based on jumping the lamp check relay, doesn't this bypass it? Good chance this can be the issue.
