Brake issues

On my '84 GS I got all new brakes. Rotors, lines, master cylinder, pads, calipers, etc. I just hit 2000 miles on the car since doing the brakes, I figured I'd check up on them again. I noticed that the drivers side rotor is all glazed over, so I sanded it down to clean it up.

I then took off the other side, after getting fed up with the squeak between 5 and 25 MPH, and the rotor was shiny like it should be, but the rotor was very difficult to move, which also explains why the passenger side wheel is black with linings. That also explains the squeak.

I guess what I'm asking is if there's some sort of proportioning valve or other thing that would affect this. I'm kinda stumped.

check the caliper. it may not be releasing pressure completely.

+1; rust inside a caliper (from old, wet brake fluid) can make it sticky, and sometimes they will wear asymmetrically & get reluctant.

its also a good time to check the caliper slide pins...

squeak from the rear = possible bent axle. the runout causes the caliper to have to slide back and forth way more than it wants to, and it complains

I've got new calipers on there. My thoughts on the driver side squeal is I didn't add anti-squeal on the back of the pads, and it's also spinning a little freely, so there's a little too much free play in there. Any way to solve this? There's also glaze on the driver side rotor.

@j9fd3s The squeaks aren't coming from the rear, it's coming from the front. I've still got drums in the rear, and changed all that out. Is it possible that the brakes are not fully bled, and that is causing problems? Just a thought.

Front bearing preload is adjusted with the bearing nut, not the brakes.

You say that the passenger side rotor is reluctant to move. This tells me the bearing is way too tight. They are supposed to be tightened enough that they do not wiggle laterally, but that they spin freely and with very little effort. If you drive much farther you run the risk of overheating the bearing and destroying your spindles. Ask me how I know.

Bad master cylinder. Returned it, and am getting another one tomorrow. I will update as it goes on.
