ok, so today i was on my way to work in my daily driver witch happens to be an 84 gsl... it was raining, there i was at a stoplight.... heres what was on; defrost,headlights,wipers on second intermitent setting, and the radio. everything is stock btw....
anyways light turns green and i go to hit the gas. the whole car dies! deader than a hammer. i cursed and about to throw a fit opened the door and vwalah! the whole car comes back to life. minus the running motor. the clock as well as all my presets were reset. i drove to work no issues, drove home nothing. none of the wiring seems to be throwing red flags... first guess was the battery cables, however my alternator is good and the car runs without the battery with all the accesories on no problem.
so i was thinking a bad ground or something got wet?
anything like this happen to you guys? or was this a freakish fluke ? regardless saturday i am going to be going through the car more thourouly because the last thing i want is my rx7 turning into a fiero...

i would start with battery cables look at all the connections mainly the ground.
Then i would start looking at the fuses and the fusible links. make sure all the wires to the starter have a good connection.

yeah your battery connections are no good, opening and closing the door is pretty classic symptom...

i kinda figured lol. it was the other way to spell it. i was tired guys come on haha
yeah i looked at the battery cables and the ground has started to work its way loose. i have after market type connectors so i am going to just put a bolt hole connector on the ground. i figured this would happen. if this dosent fix it then im gonna be pistoned...

Sounds like you are on track. I would clean connections at the battery terminal and make sure they are good and tight. Check grounds and starter connection. Also a good idea to check the battery connection at the fusible link block as well as the fusible links themselves (migth have a loose one or a partially fried one).

all the wires are fine now, so when i was done i went to close the hood and it did it again...
i opened the hood and did it again. it did it again... long story short the posotive connector was rubbing against the hood and grounding out(little rub spot). i was looking at my other rx7's and it appears the posotive is closer to the engine, for some reason my cables are swapped. length wise. so far it is fixed i think the ground working itself loose was just a door prize find.

You'll want a vinyl boot for that front positive battery post. It can make for pyrotechnics if a goodly bump makes solid contact with the hood.

Positive post of the battery goes to the rear. Had a friend who installed his battery with the pos post to the front, it hits the hinge. Needless to way say he blew a bunch of electrical ****.
