Bored, so let's hear your opinions on my plan...
Okay, about a month ago I made my mind up to do a 1jzGTE conversion on my MKIII supra. Well, I waited too long to make my mind up...lol...and now the temps have already bumped the 20's. Most of the work I'd have to be doing outside, my garage isn't big enough, so it's put off until the spring. So instead, as some of you know, I'm selling my engine-less S5 (or trading, depending on the events in the near future) and taking on an FB project. I want a GSL-SE, gotta have disc brakes all around...they're the only ones with disc brakes all around right? Anyway...so here are my plans and prices I've found...if you guys know a better price somewhere please let me know:
Carb kit/manifold...webber 45: $600
Straight exhaust...headers, 2.5": $200
Elec fan kit: $100
Suspension Tech. full swaybar kit: $370
Lowering coils: $200
Not set on struts yet...
Other plans are the disdif whatever thing...lol. Haven't done much research on ignition, either, would like some suggestions on that.
I also plan to install a few FC things as well. Oil cooler, alternator, fusebox, has anyone ever tried FC coils?...I also have a big aluminum GM radiator lying around somewhere I might use.
my mind just went totally blank but that's the jist so far...

The GSL had discs all around also, just a 12a/carbed engine instead of the FI 13b that the SE has (unless you find a GSL with the 13b swapped in).
Shocks/struts, I'm looking at Tokico's but don't know if they are the best or not for the money.
Straight pipe exhaust will be loud! Where do you live where you can run it like that? Good luck on the project!

I live way out in the middle of...well...there's a stick in the ground about 80 miles west of here and that's the closest thing we got to civilization...lol.
I live in the Texas panhandle...believe me, I know it's loud, I used to have a straight piped FC...lol. Got lots of people pissed. It's not much louder than my current straight-piped MKIII NA Supra and I've managed to keep people off my back...so far...
Anyways...cool...the GSL had discs all around too? I wanna carbed 13b car but a 12A will work. What's the stock output of the 12a? Not really a factor but I'm curious.

My exhaust is broke right now (see sig) and driving the nine miles home after it broke, I swore I would get pulled over. The only thing that happened is none of the other cars on the road kept close to me for long The exhaust sounded boggy while it was below 3.5k but after I passed that point, it screamed! Sounded like I was driving a real race car then

The cooler and box is good to know, though!

MSD makes a pretty good cheap coil. Though they aren't bullshitting when they say not to mount them horizontally. I heard they both went out.
You can do a direct fire setup with 3 coils and an MSD box, or do the DLIDFIS that Jeff20B posted. I have ran them both and liked them.

I've read his write-up repeatedly and can't quite grasp it. I'll prolly have better luck when I have all the parts in my hands. But the DLIDFIS thing is something I'm certainly doing.

Some SE differences that would enable you to take the project further are obviously, that it came from the factory with EFI, making a conversion to EFI or turbo EFI that much easier.
Also, on your concerns about brakes, the SE has vented disks all around, whereas the GSL's had vented front, solid rears. The LSD on the SE may be a factor in getting this power to the ground, as well. HTH,
