Boost gauge in place of clock in SA.

Has anyone done it? I've had the cluster apart, and I see no major issues other than the fact that the std 2-1/6" gauges are a bit big for that location. If it's been done before, some pics would be great. Any idea on a gauge model that blends well with the other stock instruments?

I've fitted the FB console in my SA, which includes the digital clock, so I really don't need the one in the cluster. I made up a custom aluminum plate to mount two gauges (boost and oil pressure) in place of that little storage bin in the FB centre console, but would much rather have the boost gauge higher up in my field of view.

craig,

Thanks for the pic. I hadn't thought of that location. It looks like it's a good fit, although I'm still keen on fitting it in the clock location if possible. Attached is a pic of where it is located now. I'd swap an oil temp gauge in it's place if the boost gauge moves up to the cluster.

trochoid, thanks I'll search for that WB display thread.

trochoid, i think he is referring to the clock in the 79-80 gauge cluster. the analog one where the oil pressure and volts gauges are in 84-85.

You got it. My earlier pic shows I don't have the same centre console layout as the later cars.

Ah, missed that part. I'm not familiar with the SA clusters. I might even be difficult to do on an S3 cluster due to the circuit board on the back.
