Bonez street exhaust system

Looking for a cheaper way to replace my tired catalytic converter in order to pass the CA emissions test, I ran into the rx7.com site and saw the Bonez street exhaust system for the 84 GSL-SE. Before I buy it I'd like to know if it will a) pass a visual inspection, and b) do as well as the factory cat in reducing emissions, considering it's a high-flow cat. For 1/2 the price of a main cat, it sounds too good to be true.

Anyone have issues with this product?

I heard it is pretty darn good and It should pass emission with no problems. I need to get my self a new cat too mine is maybe melted inside or something but I faild emission before with it. That was here in Washington.

By the way, I would go for that one there over replacing it with the stock one. It was highly recommended by many of my Rx7Club friends.

Racing Beat also sells replacement cats for much less than factory price. They're in California and I'd trust anything they sell.

I'm using the Bonez. Bolts right up to existing system, replaces all 3 factory cat components. Adds a nice growl to the exhaust and maybe a hp or 2. It should pass the visual, not sure about the gasses.

It's more like the other way around. It should pass emissions, visual will depend on how strict is the tech who inspects I guess, since it replaces 3 cats. But you should be able to work it out.

I put the Bonez unit on my car and flew thru emissions. Not sure about Cali, but if the tech does not know it had 3 cats then as long as there is a cat you should be fine. do yoou think they have a printout telling them what each car ever made has?

They might, if the have something stuck up their ***. But I don't know. I have not had the experience of getting inspected yet.
