Bonez race pipe
Has anyone use this product? It is a pipe that connects between the exhaust manifold and your muffler. Rx7.com sells it. If so, how loud is it compared to the RB streetport system? Also, how is the power gain compared to the RB streetport system? I already have the RB streetport system for my SE. I have to swith it back to the stock system so I can pass smog. It is a pain in the rear. That is why I am looking for a simpler alternative. Thanks

I use the bonez pipe (a "cat replacement" pipe, it bolts in in place of the three cats on my 84 and 85 GSLs). It's real easy to put in and the one rx7.com sells is of good quality. I've had mine for about 4 years and have installed and then removed it from three different cars. The sound with the stock muffler is excellent, a nice rumbly sound that you can hear but is not to loud to bother the neighbors or local law enforcement. I think this is because keeping the stock exhaust header mellows out the sound more than an aftermarket header. Best is increased performance. You get an instant power gain over the cats and much better gas mileage. The downside is that without the cats you get more exhaust smell and the exhaust stains the back end of the car over the tail pipe. Of course it's also illegal and pollutes the environment.

Thanks for the replies. You guys mentioned the power gain with the straight pipe. Did you guys just wire the 5th and the 6th port open? Because with the straight pipe, there is no attatchment to the pipe that goes to the acuators.
