boneyard score!

Was at the boneyard today picking up a fan motor for my father-in-law's tempo and didn't see the regular 3 fb's they use to have. Asked about them and they moved them all together at the other side of the yard. Walked over and low and behold there were two more plus two fc's. Cool, start scrounging through them and my wife yells over from one of the fb's and says "is that a glass sunroof?" I run over to the fb she is at and sure enough, a glass sunroof on an 83' Limited Edition!! Wasn't even broken, no scratches, just a little dirty and a little bit of surface rust on the metal caps on the outside of the glass. Picked it up and the passenger side manual window regulator (swapping out my electrics for weight saving and they don't work anyway) for $75. Too bad the rims were long gone

Yeah, I'm taking her out to dinner tonight. She loves searching around in the boneyards and working on our cars with me.

My g/f doesn't really care about cars. In her opinion, if it gets her from A to B, it's good.... But at least she doesn't wear lots of makeup and isn't shoe-crazy!!

As for the sunroof, good score man. I wish the boneyards around here actually had ANY rotary powered cars in 'em. My mechanic works at a garage at a boneyard, so sometimes I browse through the yard when I'm waiting on him. Last week I was in there and I saw two FCs outside the garage to be repaired and one delapidated one in the boneyard. So I ask about them, and as it turns out, the two blue FCs that were outside the garage had been shipped down from Toronto to get painted by the body guy there, and the red POS one had been spoken for (bought for more than I'd ever pay... 1800$.. geez, someone REALLY wanted it)..

good score man. The few fbs that reside in scrapyards around here had been picked clean long before I ever got to them, too bad cause one of em is a SE, was a SE would be more like it. If you fancy a set of LE wheels I know someone who might part with them (yes, me) shoot me a pm if your interested, maybe we can work something out.

Boneyard,
score,
your wife?

..kinky man.

Seriously, I am glad you found parts you wanted. We are loosing our "look for yourself" salvage yards- they have become 'disassemblers'- they only have the car for like a week- and remove all the more expensive stuff (engine, trans, rearend) and then crush the cars. They even started closing on Satruday- because they don't want to deal with regualr joes- they only want to deal with garages.

yea it seems like the good ol fashioned scrap yard is getting hard to find. Down by a friends house about a hour away there are like 7 scrap yards all on one road, but only 1 actually let me go searching through them, the rest just gave me the bullshit about liability and all that and wouldn't let me do anything. what a pain

yea, we have one by me, this crazy old redneck with one eye (no exaggeration) runs this one. If u wanna be a bastard u can tell him u need a tailight lense, and go down in the yard and fill your trunk up, at a leisure pace, and leave without even paying a dime. Altho i pay him for large things like radiators, because his prices are fairly 1970s and hes gotta make money somehow..

They just opened a new Pull-A-Part out here and it ******* rocks. Everything is arranged according to make, all the cars are already set up off the ground, and the parts are cheap. They have a big tub of hand cleaner and a sink so you can wash up before you leave

I have a pull-a-part near my house. IT is the best freakin place in the world. The last time i went they had four untouched gsl-se's that were completely untouched!!!! and they are so stupid they think a roatry is a tranny, lol, so i can pull the whole drivetrain and they think it is a tranny and rear end only!!! it is the BEST

Those are all rear wheel drive cars, right? Why did Australia keep so many rear wheel drive platforms? At least you don't have junk yards full of crappy 80's/early 90's front wheel drive GM and Chrysler products.

And has anybody noticed how lttle it takes to total newer cars? I see cars that aren't four years old with minimal damage being totaled just because the airbags are blown. Are econo cars built that cheap nowdays?
