blow through question

For the guys runing a blowthrough setup, if you run any manifold, aside from the stock one, do you need to use a spacer to use the stock s5 turbo manifold? or do you need to use a spacer to run any blow through setup?

Unless you're using a TII/FD LIM, you'll need to space the turbo away from the block. All the other manifolds I've seen will run into clearance issues.

how bad is the clearance with the stock nikki inake manifold? if i buy a head flange from rb does it have to be welded to the s4 turbo manifold or can i just use a gasket inbetween and will that space it out enough? also, will the head studs be long enough to bolt it to or will i need to get longer ones or bolts. sorry for all the questions

LOL, head studs.

With the Nikki manifold you're going to have to space it out pretty far, even if you grind away the ACV area. The thickness of just an RB flange probably won't be enough. The other problem is that the idler arm gets in the way, so the turbo has to be spaced forward as well as outward. I recommend getting two RB flanges and welding some pipe between them, the way Aaron Cake does it in his NA-T guide. You'll have to take some measurements to see exactly how far and in which directions the turbo has to be spaced out.

Yeah, I knew what you meant. I just thought it was funny.

Here's the page in question:
http://www.aaroncake.net/RX-7/naturbo4.htm

Some of the info is FC-specific, but that's basically what you'll need to make.
