Blow off valves?

Hi guys, just wondering...that hissing noise when shifting on a turbo engine, is that from blow off valves? What are they? Is it possible to make that hissing noise when I shift on my non turbo 12a motor? It sounds sweet, just askin

Ricer, are you???
The blow off valve releases the back pressure, so the turbo can spin-up faster after shifting. That's the noise.
Otherway, the pressure can cause the turbo to recover slower.
Well, that's how I try to explain BOV... I'm not sure ho to do decent explaining. I know how it works, but I am normally talking Dutch, not English... If anyone can explain this better: go ahead.

You probable can buy some ricer toy to make that noise, but you're gonna get flamed big time on this forum...
I think you'd want a Honda to bolt something like "fake-BOV" sounds on...

Rotary Emotions is right. The BOV is a device that releases pressure between then turbo and then intake manifold to reduce/stop turbo surge, and allow the turbo to recover and spool up again with no pressure on it. It does this anytime you let off the gas after using boost, not just when you shift (like just revving the engine). Basically, the BOV is designed to make the turbos job easier. If there was a bunch of pressure in the manifold/turbo ducting/whatever, the turbo would have to overcome that pressure all over again before you would get any boost. This can be hard on the compressor fins too. With a BOV, it releases the extra pressure, and allows the turbo to spin without any backpressure on it.

Also, yes, unfortunalty they do make fake BOVs, but I honestly cant stand people that have them...

Just get a PA set up for your car and when you shift, make a PSSSSSSHHHH sound into the mic.

I did this for fun,

disconnect the tube coming from the air pump. attach a cheap bypass valve ($5 at a junk yard) and run a vacuum line to the manifold.

when you shift you get a 5 psi burst.

The fact kits are like over $100 too,

Don't nobody(that I know anyway) want to pay that kinda money for rice! If I had a extra $100+ I'm sure I could put it toward something useful.

I want a refund on the 2 mins it took me to read this,

You guys are sick,
Anyone on this forum using:

Fake BOV
Electric Turbos
Light up tail pipes
Type R stickers (or any other Factory peformance teams stickers like TRD,Saleen,SVO,)
OR
ANY APC products need to be shot and drag to some FL swamps.

Its difrent when you see a riced Honda, that is expected,
BUT a riced 7 is a sin..

I went to an auto parts store today to get parts with my friend for his 7 so I can fix it,and the redneck asked if I wanted to buy seat covers that light up and have flames in them.

I laughed and said yeah that must be 10 more HP..He just looked at me crazy...

I know theres some Proud APC users so show what you got..

I need a good laugh
