Blasted front end noises......!!
Hey how are you guys doin? its been awhile since I've posted on here. Anywho, onto the situation. There is a noise comming from my front end while I drive. 1st I replaced the wheel bearings. It was still there. Then I took a look after the noise came back after the new bearings, and it appeared the outter part of the caliper was actually riding right on the rotor, rubbing. I looked at the gap between the outter, and inner part on the caliper, and compaired it, top to bottom. The bottom of the caliper has an even gap on the inside and out, in conjunction to the rotor, but the top was close, so I put a washer to space the caliper closer to center on the top portion. Also my rotor had been grooved pretty deeply at this time. The noise seemed to go away for awhile, until one day last week, I blew a bearing. Lastnight, I took this washer out, and compaired the gap from the top mounting hole for the caliper, which is attached to the spindle assembily, from that bracket to the rotor, and compaired it to the good side, the passenger side. The gap on the bad side, driver's side, was signifigantly larger than on the passenger. The piece that the calliper bolts to looks straigt to me, which leads me to finally believe that the spindle is bent. Does anyone have and ideas or input on this? The problem has been around since I bought the car 3 months ago, on and off. I can now probaby tear apart the front end with my eyes closed. Any help or thought will be appreciated. Sorry so long, hard to describe. Thanks.

man that is some wierd shiite , but i have seen it before , the inner bearing race deforms the roter and it no longer holds the race sqaure, the longer you drive it the worse it gets, then you tear it apart and its centered again then you drive it and ***** again . this is also why the bearing chunks, so get rotahs my friend . hope it helps trev

What kinda sound is it?
Is it only one side?
If it is one side only take both assemblys off and compare the differences.
The only diff should be the bracket that holds the caliper on. There is a left and right side.
At the same time you can paint your brakes and remove the dust shields..... AKA possible cause of noise. They ususally bend really easily and make all kinds of noise.
Hope that helps at all.

Often that little detail can make the difference.

I would suggest that you takne the Rotor off of one side and move it to the other. That way you can determine if it is the spindle or the rotor/bearings.
Are you sure that the races are pressed in all of the way?
I've never heard of a spindle bending without being in a accident of some sort.

I have to apologize for being so bitchy in my last post, I was quite frustrated at the problem. Well turned out the problem was the spindle, out by an 1/8th of an inch. Got it straightend for a 26 of crown royal. No more noise. Again, sorry bout the last post.
