thought some guys out there may know or have done a large brake upgrade 4 the front 2 fit under 13 inch wheels, any help could save me a little time and money trying 2 work it out

The stock brakes barely fit under the 13" wheels. You won't find a bit brake upgrade that fits under it.

You should also run Firefox, it has an auto spell check.

ReSpeed has big brake kits, but again they'd need larger wheels.

Don't take this the wrong way, but why do you want to upgrade your brakes? Are you experiencing fade? During normal driving? While autocrossing? Road racing? Do you want shorter stopping distances? Do you want better pedal feel? Improved aesthetics?

The best route to take might be different depending on your answers.

one of the general rules of thumb is you need ATLEAST a 3 inch larger diameter than your brake rotors. This is for caliper clearance ect...

Proper grammer is appreciated to all forum locals. That being said, ........

It depends on your vehicle use, but you may not need larger brakes. If most of your driving is on the street then a few mods to your factory setup should work great. I would recommend:

New rotors
Hawk Pads
SS braided lines
Flush fluid and replace with a Quality synthetic brake fluid

I have ridden in a few FB's with this setup and the brakes were very impressive. If you plan to track or autocross the car then brake fade will come into play. From there, I would suggest upgrading your wheels for larger brakes, because a 13" wheel isn't going to cut it.

Good luck

There are many owners that track their cars with 13X7/8" wheels and sticky autocross tires. Their brakes hold up fine. It's all a matter of choosing the right rotors, pads, ss brake lines and frequent fluid bleeding.

Btw, what are 'modgies'? Couled you post a pic of these wheels, never heard of them.

Steel wheels have fit over the large Series 3 (-SE in N.A.) brakes.

Beyond that... put better pads on and run ducts, if you're running out of brakes. I've found that street tires give up long before the brakes do, even when using $10 parts-store brake pads.

i may have to import or get some braided lines made up as you can't get them in New Zealand for the 1980 sa22 model and the rotors i can get but my supplier has 2 get them imported and will take a couple of weeks and are $185 +gst each what is more than $300 us a pair il have a look on the net 4 some cheaper stuff (New Zealand is a rip for car parts and even more of a rip when you have a older car)

just trying to shorten my stopping distance as much as possible with my 13 inch wheels still on it, looks like il just have 2 import some stuff
