Bicycle Rack on a 1st gen?

Question...does any one know of a universal or simple easy bike rack for the 1st gen 7s? I did a little research and it looks like they only offer the roof type racks. I was thinking cant I get a universal trunk mount type of rack from Target or Sport Chalet or something and hang over the rear bumper and close the glass hatch?

I dont really want a roof mount system. I want something super easy that I can slap on, throw my cruiser on it and head to the beach or wherever and then slap it off.

Anyone have any reccos on bike racks?

Roof Rack

I have an older roof rack for a 1st gen that I will sell.
Even has locks built in.
PM me if interested and I will get pics. I'm never gonna get around to using it now that I have two little ones (well one on the way). It is still packed up from buying it from the last owner.

$150 shipped

I have a saris bones 3 and the thing is bad ***! It will hold 3 bikes but only fits 2 when on my rx7. It reconfigures for any car (I use it on my xterra too) and has 2 top, 2 bottom and 2 side straps with wide clips. It doesnt move at all on the car so it has never jacked my (crappy anyways) paint. The only thing I worry about is cooking my tires that hang right by the exhaust! I think I paid like $115 on sale locally...

Hey - why couldnt you guys get it to fit? I position it all on the glass with the arms hanging over the bumper. 2 bikes hang down and dont hit the bumper. Maybe I'll go throw it on and take a picture....

I say junk that rack bullshit idea and just bring some tools so you can take apart that bike and stash it behind the seats. Simple and wont cost you a dime. besides, having that bike 24/7 is an insurance that you will make it home since GSL-SE's are junks. lol
