Do you guys think that the 12A is better or the 13B? I would think that the 12A is more reliable but you can get lots more power with the 13B? What do you guys think?

I heard of a lot more 12A reaching the 200k mark on the original motor, but maybe there are some 13b out there that have and I just havent heard about them.

dude, the 84-85 3mm 13B is the most reliable engine mazda has ever made, piston or rotary. For those motors, lasting less than 200k miles was the exception not the rule. Plenty of GSL-SE motors lasted over 250k miles.

 

Most 1st gen motors will last 250000 miles or more. Its the ones that weren't maintained very well that have the problems.

 

yep, i have 3 friends that are still going onthe original motors. my best friends finally blew though, at a mere 300,000. i love the 13b, but the 12a can be made to be pretty damn sick. if you already have that in your car, save some trouble!
