Best way to start RX7

My 7 is a 84 with a carb, not fuel infected. Have a big problem starting car. What is the best way using the pedal and choke?

Thanks

is the car not starting as in theres something wrong? or as in u dont really kno how to keep the idle up. wat i usually do is turn car to on position pull choke press pedal 4 times so fuel gets into the car and just crank. starts without a hitch. but im in california too. dunno too much about in colder weathers.

Turn key to 'on' position, pull choke, start car.
Adjust choke to idle at about 1500 rpm.
In extreme cold weather, or for a battery that isn't fully charged, this may take a few attempts.

I never use the pedal to start the car. I pull the choke, turn the key, start her up, and let her warm up from 5 to 10mins depending how cold it is outside. Here in south tx it doesn't get too cold so it takes about a a few mins to warm up then i'm off! I never have any problems starting her in one shot

I have an 85 12A

Put key in ignition
Pump pedal twice
Pull choke out
Turn key
Car starts
Leave the area before smoke kills you.

I follow similar procedure as above. My 83 12A used to spin over for awhile before it would fire up. After recent DLIDFIS install, I don't hear it turn over- it just fires up.

i usually hit the gas a couple times, and hold it like 1/8th open, let it fast idle for 10-15 seconds then its off. if its really that cold i might pull the choke, but they really dont need it in CA

When I purchased my '82 (back in '82), I was told when I start it to never pump the gas pedal-just pull out the choke and crank it. I have always done that and have never had a problem starting it (except when I've let the battery go dead from lack of use!).

turn key to on position first then pull choke out, this sets the magnet on the choke sensor. pump pedal as needed.

Push the car on a slight decline, hop in, put it in first, pop the clutch out with the key in the start position in the ignition. Hopefully that works for you.

Being that you are in cold Country. Cranking amps are the most important thing for you. Meaning that you have to have a battery that is in excellent condition with adequate cranking amps for your climate.

Even in the coldest climates you should only have to turn the ignition to on, pull the choke out and crank until she fires. Have you verified that the choke is operating properly?

Running a 5w30 motor oil in your climate will help with the cranking. Also a good ignition circuit is beneficial in starting. Having good plugs and wires makes a heck of a difference.

Last thing if everything has checked out ok. Meaning that your battery is good and the starter is kicking her over very well. Then it's time to do a compression test.
