Best seats for 1st gen

What are the best supportive seats to put in a 1st gen car? I've got an 82 base model car and these seats have minimal side bulstering. Putting in a set of Sparcos at $1100 into a car that is worth $1000 makes little sense. The 1st gen GS, GSL, SE seats are very bulky compared to others. Do 2nd gen seats fit right in? Are there different models of the 2nd gen seats (base, GXL, turbo, 86-88, 89-91)? Are these less bulky than the 1st gens? Has anyone had good experience with any other aftermarket seats?

2nd gen seats bolt right in. The T2 seats are the best but almost everyone knows this so they are not usally cheap for a good set.

Unless you know someone or, like here in Abilene, have a freindly junkyard that does not understand imports.

When you say the 2nd gen seats "bolt in", do you mean that they use the 1stgen sliders (or mounts, dunno the technical term) or the 2nd gen ones? I have both, so I imagine I'll figure it out when I try to put seats in my car, but it would be nice to know ahead of time.
Thanks.

Any other seats? Has anyone ever tried seats from an early 90s Prelude? Those were really nice.

2nd gen seats into a 1st Gen

I've got a set of Vert seats in my GSL-SE. Use the 2nd Gen runners. Everything lined up and bolted right in, no problem.

Vert seats have same side bolsters as T2's, but have the bonus of the headrest mid's. speakers. Thus my choice.

Hope that helps.

Very nice Pittdp.

Is it just that all my pre-84 cars have worn out seats or that the seat bottoms are much higher on the 84-85 cars? I find myself ducking to look under the mirror in my SE, and trying not to hit my head on the sun visor. A problem I never experienced in my SA or my 83. ANYONE???

I think you're right about it. My 85 seems higher than the 81 did.

I am 6'1" and I need to lower those seats. I think I'll put my T2 seats in my SE. They seem to be the same height as my 83 seats.

The TII seats have a much deeper bottom than any others. I feel like I'm sitting on the floorboard in my TII. Its a much lower position than my GXL.

The GXL does have a tilt adjustment on the front of the driver's seat that the TII doesn't, however. That's kinda cool.

I think the 84 and 85 seats sit a little higher because the GSL and GSL-SE had the option of having the drivers seat have the tilt function (gotta put the extra mechanics somewhere) therefore it raises it up a tad.

How much did that run you? Did you get new foam? I am looking into refurbishing a couple of SA and T2 seats.

It helps to make me jealous.

How do you have them wired? Are you running an aftermarket stereo system? How is the sound in the SE with the headrest speakers?

Inquiring minds want to know.

I've got a Corbeau Forza and the stock 82 black passenger seat. The Forza just barely fits, but the difference is amazing. Incidentally, it's actually a little higher than the stock driver's seat. I think the GS seats must be much lower than the GSL ones, because all the RX-7's with leather GSL seats I've ever driven have felt like sitting on a phonebook lol.

My plan is to throw a couple Acura GSR seats in my 85 I have a coworker who said he'd hook me up (read: steal some). I know that it's not a cool thing, but someone is going to buy them, it might as well be me. No idea about fitting them yet, but worst comes to worst, I'll bust out the ol' flame gun
