Hmmm, could have been that he said 12B come to think of it, at least he tried to learn something, this was years ago now but I'm sure he's still mystified by rotary power - even piston power for that matter.

[i]And yeah. . . beating a "civic" doesnt really seem like such a feat, especially in the world that I come from, the land of thumpin V8's etc. . .
Now the day I beat that guy - in a Torana 5000 V8 thumper, as I enterered the highway and we were side by side for about a klm...he just couldnt get enough speed to pull away from me - I (stupidly) got to about 190ks (that was fully maxed out) and he had no more... [/B]
Good work doing in that V8, but in my experience standard type carbied V8s (small blocks like that 308 Holden Torana) don't have much on a sev anyway, and where I come from in H-Town (Hamilton) NZ you really can't have a sev that will only do 190 (and in the slipstream??), I mean decent new points and/or just new dizzy cap, and some decent carbie mix and you should go past 200(km/h) with ease, stock top speed is about 200. Remember use 4th gear to really stretch your sevs legs.

Keep tuning that sucka and go for the injected V8s, you'll be surprised, there is a lot more you can get out of a fairly stock setup with good timing advance, and just a decent header and get your carb secondaries sorted by either reducing the length of the vac spring or rig 'em mechanically.

Keep up the good sev stories.

Yeah.... they're real retarded when they are blowing you off the road... Give 'em some respect, dude. They are doing just what you are doing. Modding what they have to make it the best they can. As I've said before, I have a quite a few friends with 11, 12, and low 13 second daily driven Civics. Most of them don't go around trying to race everything in sight; they just like to mod their cars for the love of modding their cars. People who think that just because a car starts out as a low-powered economy 4 banger can never be anything decent irritate me.

i feel u man ...i got some friends (and i'm a hard core rotory luv'r) who got some fast aZZ four banners that are daily drivers...and these cats are faaaassssttt faster than a good few headered carb'd up 7's...lets keep in mind cars can be made to go faster....some are cheaper to hook up than other but the fact remains rotories rule...les moving parts are better..

haha, yes ur friends can have 12 13 sec civics, but its easy if they got the cash. you can go onto summit.com or apc and buy every performace part listed, and have a fast ricer carsuping up a 12a mazda motor is difficult, and that's what makes it fun (sometimes).

lol.. an 11 second civic is still gay. I'd give the guy props for getting his car going that fast if he did the work himself. However, its retarded. The majority of the population older than 18 will still think your a ****** ricer, even if your car is fast. Now, you go and take a respectable car that isnt that fast.. say 16's in the 1/4 stock, or even high 15's.. and make that an 11 second car, RWD of course.. or even AWD is cool too, and you will have people giving you more respect. I've seen a vid of a ****** civic beating a Viper in the 1/4. Sure, its a fast car, but its gay nonetheless. I guess its a matter of opinion, and there are a lot of people.. the older tuners.. who will agree with me. FWD is economical. I'd rather have a stock 426Hemi, in a 70 cuda running 12's or 13's in the 1/4 than a 9second civic.

you can't tell me a 1st gen civic hatch with a well-done modern b or d-series vtec motor swap wouldn't kick much ***.

I still think it would be gay. I dunno, I dont hang around with any FWD peeps, or any ricers.. so I really dont get any "hype" from them. I just think they are a few bricks short of a load, starting to modify a car that blows.

Majority of the population over the age of 18 think that anyone with any kind of japanese car thats modded is a ricer. Doesn't matter if its a civic,rx7,or anything else. These arguments are stupid, its like people are fighting over who's **** smells more.

damn yeah im not a honda guy, my friend has a vtec prelude and its nice, and fast, but i love my 7. if a person did the motor work and it goes that fast, yes props, but i'd rather see that effort go towards a car not so common on the road, you know?

I hear ya on the skiddy no-confidence tyres bit, that would be creepy.

Ah, a Kiwi soul - nice1. If you rig the secondaries mechanically make sure that they aren't open for cruising style throttle openings or fuel economy will suck even on the open road Big Time. Yeah I'd love to tune up your sev if I were in Oz. You chaps in Oz have the best rotary mechanics around with some of your specialist tuning companies - you'll be beating plenty more V8s if you see them but will burn some cash. Try some cheap power mods and see how you go.

The more you try tuning your car the more you will learn, soon you will have a clue and the car will go great. Maybe skid those tyres right up and get new ones after that - your 7 will go way past 200km/h, probably close to 225 or more with few mods - these cars are a damned slippery shape.

Sweet, hope it isn't too hot there in Aussie, I hear turbo cars can be quite down on power there when it gets too hot, try picking on them in your 7 some time, you might beat some of them too

Hotty is right about rwd power being a much cooler ride to play with than economical fwd most of the time.

I hope your sev is running well and smoking a few of the quick fwd machines
