BC coilover help

Hi all, i plan on getting some BC racing coil overs for my first gen and i was wondering if anyone could help me figure what spring rate and dampening i should pick for it? I plkan on autocross/track daying my car along with regular street use, what would a good spring rate be?

Also, does anyone here have any experience with how much the car is lowered by the coil overs? I *dont* want to lower my car as much as possible.

I'm running 6kg/mm on the front and 4kg/mm on the rear, it's perfect for street use, I wouldn't want to go any firmer.

The ride height is up to you, you adjust it to your preference when you install them.

Do you happen to know if it's possible to reach stock ride height on them?

No, I'm not sure why you would want to spend thousands on coilovers to set them at factory height, but I would guess that they should be able to do that. The height range is quite extensive. Since your specification is probably a bit unusual you might be best to call your local BC rep and get some assurance before purchasing them.

I was running mine at their "maximum recommended" height when I first installed mine. It's definitely 1-2 inches lower than stock. If you want to retain factory ride height you will probably need to get in touch with them to custom order a set that has a longer strut length.

I'm running their suggested rates which I believe are 5k and 3k and they work great for it being a daily street car. I don't think I'd go much stiffer, but again this is my primary mode of transportation and I don't want it to be uncomfortable. Just my opinion of comfort of course.

As the others have said, it is not possible to attain stock ride height without special ordering something from them. I have mine adjusted to max ride height and I still sit about 2" lower.

Thanks or the replies

Maybe a better question would be.

What wheel sizes, offset, and tire sizes are you guys running? Hoping to use my current wheels.

I've just got stock FB wheels with oe size tires right now, although I'd like to get some 15x7's in the future. Pretty sure +20 offset works well for 15x7 wheels on these cars, although someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

My current wheels are 14x6.5 +25 on GSL-SE brakes and axle. The comparison photo is the panasport on the left and a stock GSL-SE 14er on the right, so you can see the backspacing is the same and just adds an extra inch on the outside. This gets the the tires (stock SE size Federal SS595) just flush with the fenders. Both front and rear needed to be rolled so they wouldn’t rub, and at this point with the camber on the front a couple degrees negative, the fronts only rub a touch at full compression.

Keep in mind if you have GSL or lower brakes and axles the offset at the hubs is different (less offset) so these wheel specs will fit differently.

I just saw this today:

he shows you the bc’s compared to a stock strut, it looks about 2 inches lower before it’s even installed....

Im running 225/150lb/inch which i think converts to 4/2.7kg/mm
based on (the late) REspeed's recomendation for street use.
can confirm it is streetable, even being nearly double the spring rate of most lowering springs, but very sporty
imo having max height at 2" lower than stock is a design flaw.
these cars have suspention geometry that hates being too low
