Nikki Flooding

When you guys talk about burnishing new needle valves before installing them in the Nikki carb, which part of the needle valve exactly are you burnishing. I am having difficulty getting my carb to consistently not flood and am not having much luck. The fuel pressure is OK and everything seems to be lined up with the floats. The float levels are pretty close. About a 1/2mm low (which should result in slightly higher fuel level) on one side and about 1mm high on the other (which should result in slightly lower fuel level) on the other. I will adjust these more accurately later, but they do not appear to be off enough to cause the problem, and in any case the one that should give slightly lower level is the one that is more likely to flood.

I assume the measurement is done with just the weight of the float on the spring inside the needle?

Oops! Guess I should have searched before I posted. I asked the question already back in April. Didn't really get an answer about what to burnish though so if someone has any additional information that would be helpful.

I had not had problems since April because I started working with another carb (FB). I was wanting to try a choke again to improve cold start (with enlarged primaries) so went back to the SA carb. It works great as long as the bowls don't flood (imagine that!).

Anyway, any suggestions on what to burnish would be helpful. I think I have burnished just about everything (including a couple of knuckles), but you never know.

Thanks for all the previous help and any that might come up now.

It does seem like this has been answered many times already, so can I retract my original question?
