easy. one goes to the strut tower and then to the block(neg) and one goes to the starter and has a little cable going to the fusible link if I remember correctly(pos).

Question Battery Relocation

Along the same lines, I know of few people have done the battery relocation =>Rear Bin thing.

I will need to do that in order to facilitate Intercooler plumbing. I have seen a few sites like MAx7's that have done this.

I know they sell (universal) kits for it.

For those of you who have done it,

Was it a pain in the ***?
Any Tips?
Any recommendations
What would you do differently (if you could do it over)
Anything I should do beforehand?
Which sealed battery? Red top? Yellow Top? Copper top?
Any pics?

Thanks

Battery Bin Install

I did the Battery in the bin thing. I worked out very well. I would only do this with a Optima battery. Max7 did the battery box for a Lead Acid battery and he said never again. I cut a 1.5' hole in the tranny tunnel and ran a 0/2 awg wire from the battery to the starter. The ground I just put on the seatbelt bolt. If I could do it over I would do it the same way! Looks, and works great! And It gives you so much room under the hood!

Paul, you didn't need a battery box?

Through where did you run the cable? (driverside, Tunnel, Custom drill holes?

Did you run one Power cable to the Engine Starter?
(in other words, where does the "other" end
of the battery cable attach to?

Accesories?

What's that telephone handset looking cord for?

Sorry for what may seem stupid questions, as I have done many electrical wonders on RX's, but have never even contemplated this until I was told I needed to.

Paul is correct, When I do my Battery relocation to the rear (In a couple weeks, I'll photo document is well)
I'm going with the Optima sealed battery this time.
It's a sealed type of battery, so it does not need a battery box to vent it's fumes.
which makes installation MUCH easier!

Paul ran the main power wire thru the holes in the crossmember from inside the bin area, accross up and over to the drivers side, out the front hole, down the drivers side tranny tunnel, then out the hole around the radio console area, out then down to the starter, we then ran a wire from the starter to the alternator, and one from the starter to the fuse block (We used a 2nd gen one) to power everything else, even used an extra spot on it for the electric fan.

Red top is good for most people, Yellow top is a deep cycle and is good for large stereos that you listen to with the car off for long periods of time.

The telephone cord thingy in Pauls car is for his Ham gear (Even though he has a cell phone, go figure) hehe

I'll be doing a good writeup on my Optima install in the coming weeks
boxes of parts, so many projects, so little time.

Easy, just get some battery cables from VB and switch them with the OE ones. Takes no more than 20 minutes.

I see you have an IC-2800...how do you like it? BTW- Whats your call sign? I haven't got a 'new' radio since my FT-50R and am looking around for a new radio. (I have a IC-2000H, HTX-242, HTX-202, FT-50R, IC-2AT, and a FT-757GX, as well as a Hammerlund HQ-129-X reciever)...but none in my car...where did you put your antenna? I haven't found a 'good' place that won't ruin my car besides a cell-phone look-alike antenna.
