Bat/stereo box install pix.
Suprisingly easy.... Just ran a new bat wire from starter terminal to the back of the car. Installed a bat hold down and a fuse. Now Ill put my stereo right next to the battery. Makes for some easy wiring. I'll post stereo pics once the fiber glass drys...

I'll carpet in when done.

Usually the only times you see "bat" and "stereo" in the same sentance it looks like this
"Someone smashed my window with a bat and took my stereo!"

Good work tho

It's ghetto fabulous...
I know it won't win any beauty contests. I'm hoping once the sides are covered and I put some sort of frame and speaker cloth over the speaker it won't stand out so much? We'll see... I have some really dark tint on the back though so it shouldn't really be visable to anyone.

Arg failure... Too many air leaks it's like hanging the speaker from a string in the back and wanting it to sound good.
Oh well back to the drawing board. I'll have to make a sealed enclosure under the speaker. Oh boy more fiberglass...

Anyway it is in the storage bin. Not sure what you mean by just placed it there? It is screwed down on the frame I made and had sealer all around it. That part is air tight.
I tried to seal up all the holes all around the bin area and sprayed rubber undercoating all in the bins. There is no rattle but the speaker needs a better seal. There isn't enough resistance for it to hit properly.
You will have to make an air tight enclosure for it to work right. I'm not sure anyone even makes free air speakers. From what I see from your pictures, it was put on top of the storage bins. The box looks way too small. That soloberic needs at least .65cuft to even make any noise.
Thank you john for repeating everything turbo said in his posts. He realises it needs to be airtight and im sure he knows of the air space requirements.
Stop trying to be a know it all and just maybe try to help? hmmm sound good to you?... silence.... i'll take that as a yes.
to u turbo: did u try a rubber gasket around the sub? my bostons sounded like **** with there stock foam ones.

I'll look into that. Once I get an air tight encosure (1cu foot in a sealed box were the specs I have) I'll feel around the speaker to see if any air is leaking past. I used RTV all around the speaker when I installed it so it should be close to air tight.
Thanks....

ooo i think i see what you did...It was hard to tell from the first picture of the enclosure, but did you actually make both storage bins part of the enclosure? If so then that enclosure is going to be too big rather than to small, and even if its sealed properly it wont sound good in that large of an area. Im still not sure if thats what you did or not, but if you did that i would reccommend trying to glass in a wall or something to get the box closer to spec...What is the reccommended sealed enclosure size anyway?

Update!
Well the original install sounded like a$$!
So I glassed in a box under the speaker. It's drying now. I'll know tommorow what the sound outcome is... And I will let U all know. Here are some pics...
