Ball joint removal question

Reading the manuals at Foxed.ca it says you need a pulling tool to seperate the ball lower control arm from the steering arm? What type of puller do I need for this, or what kind of alternative tool can I use?

But I just put a nut on a couple of threads and hit it with a hammer. Use a different nut.

wack it with a hammer on the steering arm. If you're set on the puller then go to the autoparts and rent it for free. I dont like those pullers because they destroy the boot. Unless you're replacing the tie rod.

When I pulled my LCR's from the steering knuckle I had a pulley-puller, but it was too large. The local auto supply store had a smaller version, but more important was the grippers on one end of the arms was flat, and that allowed getting a good grip.

Tighten it down real tight, then whack the nut with a hammer. It should pop right off.

Please ignore the above. It was a very long day and it makes no sense.
