Badly Carbon Locked 85

I'm hoping for the best but I'm thinking damage was done. I just picked up a 85 GSL from a guy for $200. Slight rust problem on the rockers and Rear fenders but nothing I can't handle. He said it ran before he let it sit for 2 years but then he tried to start it one day and the engine was "Stuck". Well he first tried to unfreeze it forcefully.. He had someone tow him and he let out the clutch.. He said he only tried it once since it locked up the rear tires and he was worried about breaking something. He then said he unfroze it by using a block heater to heat up the engine and gently wiggling the pulley back and forth until the engine spun freely. It still won't start but he put tons of oil into the plug holes to unfreeze it. The spark plugs were absolutly soaked when I pulled them. He also said he sprayed wd-40 into the carb. WHO WOULD SHOOT OIL INTO A CARB. This car only has 80K miles on it. Should I attempt to try and blow the garbage out of the engine and get it started or just start tearing it out for a rebuild? No weird noises when I'm turning it over so it doesn't SOUND like anythings bad in there but I'm in no way an expert when it comes to these engines(But I'm working on that.. )

Either use ATF, or powerfoam to try and eat the carbon. There are a few threads on this subject.

Have you checked the compression on it yet? Remove the lower plugs (one at a time) and crank it over. Should hear loud, even, PSSST PSSST PSSST. If there is any variation then you have a seal problem, which may or may not be fixed by the ATF treatment.

I just went through this a couple of months ago, but it worked out great. Good luck!

FYI

I just tore down an engine that had locked up...

I tried once to pop the clutch and get it moving, but all I did was squeal the tires.

when I finally opened that beast up, it had actually tossed an apex seal and one of the pieces was in such a location that it had wedged the rotor tightly.
