power window conversion

I am thinking about going to power windows in my 7 and I was wondering how hard this would be. I need new door panels and all the power window stuff right? the wiring and the motors and the switch. is this correct or is there something different about the inside of the doors?

pretty much. I would personally just change the doors. It would be easier and also all you would need afterwards is to run wires to some switches.

I did it this way: get the electric motors/runners. Find the switches. Connect the stuff. It's just an afternoon work. My only problem was getting the windows aligned. It can be tricky, especially when te runners are worn. Wiring isn't very hard: just make sure you have a good earth, and putting a relais in between will also help.

Did you guys use the stock wiring? I tried pulling it out of my wrecked se but gave up because it seemed to go everywhere fromt the switches. I figured it would be easier to just run my own wires.

I did mine about five months ago and love it. Bought the stock regulators and swithches off ebay, Wired everything with the original harness. It looks like the car came with it. Getting the windows adjusted on the tracks was the most time-consuming part, all told it took about 2 hours.

did you have to remove the carpet from the floor to run the wires?

You also don't have to replace the door panels if you dan't want to. When I did the swap, I just put tweeters where the crank used to be, and then wired them in parallel with the front speakers.

Nope, You can use a piece of stiff wire to run any electrical wires. The only thing I had to remove was the door panels and shifter boot.

The only thing I don't like about my power window is that the window doesn't go all the way down. Other than that I can appreciate not having to lean over to roll the passenger side window down.
