Bad vacuum advance?

So.. How much trouble am I in if just one of the 12a distributors vacuum advances fail? It looks like it's the trailing advance, it has two screws holding it with the little timing marks. I need trailing advance, right?

Borrowed a good trailing vacuum advance, the car revs more smoothly with both vacuum advances hooked up. Sorry..
