bad ignition switch?

bad ignition switch?
a few days ago, i went to start my 79, and it dies once the key is set to the *on* position.
no power to fuel pump, no voltage to coils.
both exist if i slowly turn the key to start without turning to the point where the starter engages
is this common? can i just clean my ignition switch contacts?
or is it time to go full race car and install some high amp toggles?

Couple of things you might check;
1) there is a set of 3 fusible links on the driver strut tower. make sure they are OK
2) there is a fusible link behind the ignition sw harness. Photo off Parts bk attached. has that failed?
see "67099C" on far left (and PN listed on opposite side…)
3) loose connection on the gin harness
Not common, but obv a popped fuse/link suggests other problems.

Just a follow up, with my solution to this particular problem.
Fusible link is fine, the problem is the ignition switch.
So, I soldered a toggle in place (high amperage) from point to point on the switch, so when I get my next one, it will all come out and remain stock. but after a 3 hour drive, the switch works again. Now I also have a good auxiliary main switch.
