bad engine or good engine?
i am 17 and i have a 83 gsl carburated 12A and i am driving the car in the cold wintery wisconsin area. i have had a power loss. 2nd and 3rd i just dont have the power that i used to. i checked all my fluids and the oil was a little low and i noticed some creamy like sludge around the top of the oil fill tube. i want to know if it is just moisture that got in there or is it antifreze. i was told that it could be moisture. i pulled the plugs and they are not discolored by the coolant. pluggs are fine. and the coolant level is perfect. now about 2 months ago i had a coolant problem with my car but that problem went away after i did a few things. i need help, i want to know if anyone has had any problems like this and if so how would i fix them. thank you for your help it is appreciated greatly.
Are the emissions (rats nest) removed? If so, you'll get that sludge (lung mustard) in the filler neck if you don't vent properly. Look at the last entry in the FAQ or at another post today about ventilation -> https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...hreadid=262029
no i have not messed with anything with the car since i bought it 1 year ago. it ran pretty bad when i got it but all i did was rebuild the carb. then it ran top notch until last week. bamm i had the los of power.
Check fuel filter - loss of power is a hallmark of a sludged or nasty fuel filter. $3 Autozone
The sludge is as they say covered in proper crankcase venting as outlined in the tutorial in my sig.

Check through the whole ignition system. Get a new dizzy cap & rotor, new plugs and plug wires. Make sure the coils and ignitors are good.
Go borrow a compression tester from someone(or just buy one) and make sure the compression is even and good on both rotors.
If all of that checks out okay and doesn't fix it, then you've got a carb/fuel problem.
