bad coil and control modules

I just got into some trouble over a car I sold. I feel bad that the people broke down, but I told them RIGHT from the start that it wouldn't make it to where they were going and it should be towed. they said they'd come work on it, then take it, but they came and took it without working on it, I told them I could not give any gaurantees on the car, that it wasnt running right, and I hadn't had it long enough to know much about it, and that there could be things wrong with it that I don't know about yet, they said they understood and took it. Sadly, they made it 10 miles down the road. The car is now at a garage that says it needs a pair of coils and a control module before it will run. Does it seem weird for car to have both coils and a control module all go out at once?
Also the person is threaghtening to take me to court now and wants her money back. What do I do? I am not trying to rip anyone off, but I told them it should be towed. When I first posted the ad, the car wasn't running at all

Most likely the garage does not know how to trouble shoot the car and is just saying both are bad. Have them bring it back to your place and get the leading firing so they can take it home.

Does your bill of sale say as is? Tell them to suck donkey ****, you told them it had problems and they did not listen.

If you want to be nice buy it back for the saleing price if they get it back to your yard.

yeah, the orange one, there was no bill of sale, just signed over the title. I told them to tow it, I told them I was selling it as is and I didnt trust it. I feel terrible that they got stuck somewhere, but I mean, threaghtening to take me to court, thats really stressing me out. I tried to get a hold of them at least half a dozen times after they left the first threaghtening voice mail telling them, don't rack up a mechanics bill, let me check it out for you and see what we can do. They didnt call me back until after the mechanic gave the diagnosis, and telling me they want money. I don't have the money, I used it for rent
I don't honestly believe the coils or module went bad, I think they are full of it. I honestly think that the chick flooded it, probably never even checked for spark. The car had vacuum leaks and would only run with the choke on after it warmed up. I TOLD them that, they took it that way anyway.

so you have no documentation of the purchase other than signing the title?
Not sure what to do in that case. Hopefully some members can help put.

Do you have any spare parts or anything?

Good luck

I gave them all the spare parts.
as far as documentation, all I've got is the emails back and forth discussing details, including the one that said "you would not be able to drive it that far like that"
and I have a witness that heard me tell them that I think it should be towed, that there were no gaurantees of any kind as soon as it left the driveway

ok, my mo-in-law works in the prosecutors office and checked with the attorneys, they said that there is no way that I can be help accountable since I was upfront about everything.
The woman who bought the car has agreed that I gave her many opporutnites to back out of the deal. And she also was told by her mechanic that the problems she was having were things I wouldnt have known about. She has decided to let things go.
I feel really bad for her but she was looking for a project, and I sold her a car that I suggested towing.
anyway, thanks for listening

I think the leason learned here is a bill of sale on every car you send out.

Some people are just whiney and try turn it on you when they dont check out a car very well.
