I have had 2 not very large females in the back seat for about 4-5 hrs and they didn't mind. My brother who is 5'9 has ridden back there many times, sideways with his feet on the opposite side and he says it was comfortable. For what it's worth there is even less room in the back seat of a BMW 840/850 which is a bigger car.
