Tennis, anyone
I like the idea of a fold down back seat, as long as it matches the rest of the insides colour wise. so, it's a snug fit for adults kids fit no problem. and sometimes a 4 seater 2+2 is needed. a cargo cover would also be good.

in aust, because they have back seats they're complianced as passenger vehicles....
therefore there is a much less premium on insurance and licensing and registation =)
(mine is a jap import tho - even though the car salesman told me it was an aussie car [bastard])

John64, I'm 188cm. Theres no way I can sit comfortable back there. Also it is registered as 2+2 in Norway. You have to be 14 years old or less to sit back there.

All European RX-7's came with stock rearseats. Only when you're under 4 years old you might fit, but the good thing is that they make a nice "border" between the trunk and the passenger compartement. AND you can use the cargo cover to make the car look cleaner.
I did remove the rearseats in my car though, as I nver used them, and the extra space I have now will be used for a battery relocation (someday)

I'm pretty sure that the seats won't fit in a SA because of the extra crash bracing back there. The bracing was deleted in '81 when the law was changed, and Mazda put some storage bins there thanks to the extra space. I had to cut the bins to get them to fit in my car.

I own a Junker 82 for parts, and because its the only automatic ive ever seen, not to mention its the only one ive ever heard of that does have back seats.

Prosthetic head.
Now I am sorry, but back seats have got to be the worst looking thing you could possibly stuff in your car. Seriously. Who came up with the idea? I would rather install a sofa, several recliners and maybe a small urinal into my car than put back seats in either of my cars.

All Aussie rx7's have backseats....and they fit people in there fine... though you get serious cramp....the only good way to do it is have the person lie across the seat...and they really should be under 5'10.

I too have a 78' J-Spec RHD SA with rear seats and we (family of 4) took a 7 hr. trip to NYC from VA.
The kids age 9 and 6 at the time fit comfortably in the back. Later on in the trip, wife changed seat with the 9yr. old, no problem.
