Average RPM
Average RPM
hey my 84 GSL-SE with fuel injection has been idling at oh about 1400 rpm, i kno thats wayt high so wat is all of your idles so i can average them and try and find a way to get mine there
on very hot days it'll be around 750-800. but on a normal day it's ussulay 900-1000. i like it there. tune up guides say keep it at 800 but i had really bad throttle lag when i'd stomp on it and if i let it idle in traffic way to long then the altinator didnt' generate enough power. but my idle has only hit 800 when i've been pushin the car hard and it's 100 or above out.
when you tun your idle there are 3 adjustments. the first is throttle position. it's a little screw with a nut around it. adjust that to get with in 250-300 rpm of your desired idle. then go to the top of the TB and there is a screw, its' the ari bleed screw. the further you un screw it the higher the idle. after you get to your desired idle. there is a idle mixture screw. its on the passenger side mounted on the strut tower. it might be covered in some kinda sealant. jsut take a screw driver and scrape it out. use this screw to adjust for the highest idle. test to make sure youre getting enough fuel but not too much by reving the engine and making sure that the idle doesn't drop and kill itself. you'll have to make a minor adjustment and then wait a few seconds before you'll notice a difference in the idle. then go back to the air bleed screw and adjust it to the idle you want. you might have to go back and forth between the air bleed screw and fuel mixture screw a few times. hope that helps.
